is there anyway i can do a 404 error message that displays a "no page here" type message and then redirects after say 5 seconds back to the homepage?

also if it could be a (((a php script)))

i have seen error pages that redirect but not sure if they are php or not - well if its php it will work in all browsers regardless if java or anything is turned on wont it?

Thanks,

Matt.

You just want to make a 404.php http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/Apache/Cust...ments-with-PHP/

Now if you are wanting to add 404 capabilities within your php script, then that is a little more complicated. Essentually you have to build into your script a error handling function that checks to see if that input variable exists. Upon failure, it displays a 404 message.
