Greetings, folks. I'm a new user here, driven, like most users it seems, by some crippling computer problem. My searches have returned lots of comprehensive advice here, so I'm hopeful.

As the Dad, I'm the IT support guy for our family, and this is no exception - I'm trying to fix my daughter's laptop. One of her friends already tried, and I think this forum will appreciate the note he left her, despite the strong language:

Your instructions -
Malewarebytes is downloading.
Install it when it finishes downloading
DO not download any f****** toolbars or extra s*** even if it tells you that you can
run it
do a full scan of your system
dont f*** anything else up
