Hi,

My laptop is running windows 7 home premium and recently I have started to get a message. The message says:

Interactive Services Detection

A program running on this computer is trying to display a message

The program might need information form you or your permission to complete a task.

Why does this happen?

View the message

Ask me later

Show program details

Program(s) or device(s) requesting attention.

Message title: Printers

Program path:

5b64144ccf1df_6.0.7601.17514_none_fa396087175ac9ac\COMCTL32.dll

Received: 24 June 2013, 17:08:24

This problem occurs when a program is not fully compatible with Windows.

Please contact the program or device manufacturer(s) for more information.

When I click view the message it says this:

Interactive Services Detection

Return to your windows desktop

The program will display its own window below if it still needs attention

When you are done, or if you need to return to your desktop for more information, click Return now.

[--> Return now]

Printers

Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000709)

Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network.

I deleted my printer from Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers and I am still getting the message. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this. Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Disable Interactive Services Detection

1. Click Start > Control Panel and then double-click Administrative Tools.
2. Double-click Services.
3. Scroll down and double-click Interactive Services Detection.
4. On the General tab, change the Startup type to Manual or Disabled.
5. Click OK and restart the computer.

OR

1. Start menu. Type “services.msc” without the ".
2. Click on Services
3. Scroll down and double-click Interactive Services Detection.
4. On the General tab, change the Startup type to Manual or Disabled.
5. Click OK and restart the computer.

Thanks for the reply. Is there anyway of fixing it because by doing that it is not solving the problem. Just hiding it.

It is true that disabling only hides it.

Have you tried a system restore back to a point just before the issue began?

Thanks Rainy and Evie! This just happened to me out of the blue this morning, and both your suggestions were very helpful!!! Had never gotten such a message before!
