A shortcut is nothing but a link to a program or other file...so I have no idea what it is that is happening with your system.

Are your programs running normally?

Are you talking about every shortcut that you run, it opens ccleaner instead of the actual program/file?

My apologies for the vague description,

All the shortcuts on my desktop no longer open their programs, it is the same with the start menu and the taskbar.

When I go into 'program files' and directly activate the program they work, although I have not tested all of them.

Recreating the shortcut doesn't work either

I have since run malwarebytes anti rootkit / fixdamage.exe which found 1 threat

as well as Avast Full system scan that also did a restart scan before windows and found multiple corrupted files.

thanks Hamluis!

Yes Chrisd87

after I ran CC 'scan for issues" all my shortcuts now represent CC thumbs and open CC.

I should clarify that it seems to be only programs links that are broken. folders and text docs are fine!

Try downloading the repair link shortcut file association in vista at tweaking or majorgeeks website. There is a problem with my ISP server on loading websites/timeouts as I can't publish the direct links.

The problem must have come from the Ccleaner feature Context menu... do you see a Context Menu under Ccleaner - Tools - Startup?
