I have a Dell Optiplex 320 with Windows XP Pro locked with ransomware. I have tried a couple different solutions to resolve the issue.

I have tried to reboot in safe mode with command prompt. I get a blue screen with the following text

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've see this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove and newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** stop: 0x0000007b (0xf7912528, 0x0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I have also tried to create a bootable usb with hitman pro. After I get to the boot menu, and select USB, I get the following message.

Selected boot device not available-

strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility

Thanks for the help.

Finally got it to work. Kept trying with different USB ports and one of them worked.
