I'd be really grateful if someone could provide answers to the following questions:

  1. How does a half-duplex Ethernet node sense the presence of a digital signal on the medium, or detect collisions?
  2. If in a full-duplex Ethernet network having single end-stations on each (dedicated) segment connected to a switch, what happens if 2 separate nodes transmit to a same node simultaneously?
