I would like to download a video converter to download music off of youtube. I know that most of them contain malware and other unwanted programs, and would just like to know if there are any safe programs or sites out there? Thanks in advance

I have used Real Player for years. It will not only download from Youtube but from other video sites as well. I find it works best with Firefox.

If you are using Firefox, you can install their extension "download helper" to download, and also convert files.

Free YouTube to MP3 Converter is probably the most widely used freeware application to download music playlists from YouTube.

I've used this for years... I vouch. Very good quality compared to many other rippers.

BC Advisor Have you used any of these

The FireFox software got a bad rap in the reviews!

DVDVideoSoft got a great rap from a few sites online so that is how I will go for now.  I don't understand how to know which file extension a file needs to be converted too.

I should repeat, I would like one that is free also.   I just downloaded one called avs, voobys or something then it did not work and said that it was only a trial or somthing. It was completely confusing.  I could not even get to a place where I was even close to dowloading a vid.  Thanks again guys

The problem with the Firefox download helper is that you have to pay to convert to MP3.

Here is a link to a free converter that I have been using for years, nothing to download but your converted file.

You just copy the Youtube URL, and paste on this site, it is converted there, and then you download your MP3 file to your downloads folder.

I'm using IDM or Internet Download Manager to download videos from youtube and as well as otherfiles on the internet. Been using it for almost two years now and I can't complain on how IDM does its work. However it's a paid software so that's the only setback. You are getting what your money's worth though I'm pretty sure of that.

This thread is a bit old. Just want to ask if any of you is using a new application to download video from youtube and convert it to MP3? Of course the one that is safe to use. Thanks in advance.
