From CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/11/17/ohio.pennies.ap/index.html

LYNDHURST, Ohio (AP) -- If a penny saved is a penny earned, then Eugene Sukie earned $10,480.13 in his three-plus decades of thriftiness.

Over the years, Eugene Sukie, a retired glass plant supervisor, rolled the pennies in wrappers and stored them in 575 cigar boxes organized by year and mint. He had them counted Tuesday -- by a machine, of course.

The pennies, over one million of them and weighing 3 1/2 tons, were trucked from Sukie's home in Barberton to a coins-to-cash machine at a suburban Cleveland supermarket.

Teaches us to save our pennies and put them in a savings account

Just think how much more he would have had if he had put them in a savings account.

I've just been throwing them into a jar. I don't think I have any of the latest releases yet (specifically no Wisconsin) but I have not sorted any of them.

Washington held a BIG contest to see who could submit the best QUARTER-DESIGN. Mine was disqualified due to the fact that it was a "five-eighths design compressed to point-five-O in metric". the judges didn't cotton to that, I guess. Oh, well...back to the drawin' board. we have to wait 'til 2007 for the MINT to do it, anyway. Too far west of the Mississippi....

Maybe it's just because of "W" or then again, maybe the decision was George "W'"s or for that matter, the Supreme Court might 'ave ruled on it somewhere along the way...Who Knows?
