hi all, thanks in advance to any help i may recieve.

Yesterday i started getting a windows warning box popping up, it says ":  Windows detected a hard disk problem ::  Start backup process     --   Ask me again later..."

Upon reboot i then got a message from the BIOS saying  "PRI Slave     Hard Disk : SMART   STATUS :BAD      Backup and replace   DIsk is failing"

So i ran data lifegaurd diagnostic and it only get a minute until it comes with with a error and wont run, also tried running CHKDSK but it will not run the whole way either.

So all signs point to a BAD HD,, but i thought id atleast get someone to assure me that my system is clean before i install a new HD,,just to make sure it couldnt be anything else other than a bad HD..

THe funny thing is, this came out of nowhere, no problems, no warnings, nothing. My system is maybe 4 or 5 years old, it has  a Western Digital 640GB sata HD in it.. SO ive never had this happen before and it baffles me, even though everything points to the failing HD, it just dont seem right for some reason.  THe system is running fine beside the ocassional box that pops up and tells me to start the backup process..

anyway,   here are my dds log
