Computer keeps freezing in normalmode. Virus?

What happened is i removed AVG antivirus and installed Avast and since I installed it My computer will freeze in normal windows mode and I cant do anything, not even ctrl+alt+del. I really hate this and I have no idea what is going on. all I can think of is virus.

 

(I am in safe mode with networking right now)

 

pleas help.

First off I believe you should try to remove Avast from your computer and see if that helps at all. If that doesn't work then please, post here so others can know what's the current state of the computer and try to help you fix it. Damn it i'm so tired i do every thing wrong -.- Just follow instructions below and ignore my other post

I suggest you run the AVG Remover, you may have left overs. Reboot when done.

 

AVG Remover eliminates all the parts of your AVG installation from your computer, including registry items, installation files, user files, etc.

Hey there, I actually did a system restore that night when I had the problem and it's stopped freezing.

I have reinstalled AVG Free 2013 but I dont believe it is the best free antivirus. What can you recommend for me?

Avast or MSE should do the job. I prefer those two. Also Avira is good one.

Comodo antivirus and firewall is a good choice if you are going for a free one. Look into Eset Smart Security 6, if you are willing to pay.
