Well let me just start out and explaine the issue.

Having recently had an issue on my PC, I ran something that I was iffy about. I knew I probably shouldn't have but I did. So althought I can't prove that's what infected me, It's what I think did it.

I ran fine after that for about 2-4 weeks before experiencing any issues. Malwarebytes scan after running that came up clean.

So I was playing a game with one of my friends (minecraft) in full screen. While I was playing it my mouse suddenly appeared (cursor). I alt tabed and noticed a Survey Site poped up on screen from firefox (blocked by weboftrust).

The link was to: amch.questionmarket(DOT)com. With a referal code at the back end of it. So it was obvious what it's intetion was.

So I immeditaly shut down my pc. I perceaded to do boot scan after boot scan (I dule boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 both 64bit).

Boot scanned with:

Kaspersky (DeepScan max Dection Level Took over 8 Hours)

None of which found anything minus finding tracking cookies.

AVG did find two HTML/Framer Virus's. These were found in my Thunderbird email client. I did recently get a spam email but I didn't download anything from it to my own knowledge.

Is it likely that the Email was what did it? Am I safe?

I'm assuming i'm not because of the following threads:

Thoughout all of thoes post nothing but tracking cookies are found.

So I'm just wondering what my next move should be if any. I'm usually very good with computers, I'm taking Computer Science in Unversity, and I program a bit for fun. I haven't had a virus in over 6 Years. So I'm curious before I do anything else what you guys think caused this. A program I ran and deleted almost a month ago... or an email?

I'm aware virus/malware can sit dormit. I'm concerned that I've had a RAT placed on my computer. I'm quite pernoid when it comes to my own PC. Anyone elses's and I'd be less concerned.

Thank you.

EDIT: Skype has an ad for safe count I clicked it on a virtual pc links to almost the exact same URL. I'm thinking I may have over though this. Maybe it was skype? Possible while in skype call in minecraft I somehow clicked it or something maybe? banner hijack etc?

EDIT2: Happened again will on skype on "Infected" PC. Skype banner hijacking me?

Sorry for the double post. I have now confirmed without a doubt that it is skype that banner hijacked me. So I suspose this can be closed now. Thank you.
