I had some FBI Ransomware pop-up last night on my computer. Started in safe mode with command prompt. Scanned with Microsoft Essentials. I found an Aleuron virus, cleaned it out. From there I restarted the computer in safe mode with command prompt again & rescanned.

Woke up this afternoon, didn't find anything with the second scan. Tried to restart windows normally, goes to desktop for about 2 seconds then a white screen. I can ctrl+alt+delete & log off user etc. However, I unable to do anything from the desktop due to the white screen. So, I attempted to restart in safe mode with networking. When I do this the computer automatically restarts windows normally. Didn't catch it and came back after a minute to the Ransomware being back up with a new picture from the webcam.

MSE says I have:

I've located some of the images in the Ransomware as well as some additional files created at the same time in: c:\user\<current user>\appdata\temp

Widows 7 btw, sorry.

So right now I'm rerunning MSE in safe mode with command prompt & that's where I'm at. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance to everybody.

Hello, it sounds like you have a variant of the one in this guide. Try running the procedure and see how it is.

Unfortunately, I am unable to load in safe mode with networking. I've attempted to do that, when I do attempt to load in safe mode with networking it just reboots. I am however able to load in safe mode & safe mode with command prompt.

I'm sorry maybe I'm just missing something here. But, as far as I know I am unable to download the programs when loaded in just safe mode. Perhaps, there is something I don't know how to do here? I thought you had open safe mode with networking to download.

I'm not accessing the forum here from the infected PC, but from a completely unaffected unit.

Download them off another computer to a flash drive or CD and then run them off that on this PC.
