First, thank you for your help in advance.

There are a number of recently developed problems on this computer.  Not sure exactly how they are related, but thought I would share all of them as it may make a difference along the line.

When I start word 2013 I get an odd message about running macros.  To my knowledge all I did was tell it to open a new word doc. (see capture.jpg)

I have been having internet connection problems.  This has been hard for me to work with, as I just moved into a buddys place and not able to tell if it is his old router/modem, or part of the bug I have that is causeing the problem.  About 60% of the time when I type a URL, I get a message  This page can't be displayed

•Make sure the web address http://www.google.com is correct.

•Look for the page with your search engine.

•Refresh the page in a few minutes.

Along with a box to fix the problem

The site usually loads after typing it 1 to 3 times.

My task manger shows multiple instances of the same program really hogging memory (like 180,000K to 500,000K).  When I try to end process, it does but soon returns.  I googled the name of the program (muaxo.exe) but nothing really comes up which leads me to believe it is just a random word chosen by the virus. (see taskmanager.jpg)

Also, when I ran hijackthis, I got a funny error (see jpg attached).

Here is the Hijackthis log

Hello, Welcome to BleepingComputer.
I'm nasdaq and will be helping you.

If you can please print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.

HijackThis doesn't handle Windows 7 well. In your case I need to see a final DDS Log.
You should remove HijackThis using the Add/Remove Programs list. Use the DDS tool from now on.

Please download and run this DDS Scanning Tool. Nothing will be deleted. It will just give me some additional information about your system.

Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.

1: DDS.scr (Not recommended if you use Chrome to download this .scr file. Use the other options.)
2: DDS.pif
3: DDS.COM

Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
Notepad will open with the results.
Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.[/list]Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run.

dds_scr.gif

Please just paste the contents of the DDS.txt log in your next post.

Please download ComboFix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop. For information regarding this download, please visit this web page: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
Link 1
Link 2

IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

1. Close any open browsers.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
3. Do not install any other programs until this if fixed.

How to : Disable Anti-virus and Firewall...
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html

Double click on ComboFix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt
  • Note: Do not mouse click ComboFix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Note: If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link --> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html

Note: If after running ComboFix you get this error message "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion." when attempting to run a program all you need to do is restart the computer to reset the registry.

Third party programs if not up to date can be the cause of infiltration an infection.

Please run this security check for my review.

Download Security Check by screen317 from here.
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
  • ===

Please paste the logs in your next reply DO NOT ATTACH THEM.
Let me know what problem persists.

I should have closed this topic as I just went ahead and reinstalled windows. It is insulting to me to loose out to a virus, but I had some time sensitive things that I needed my computer for. Thank you.
