Help guys my system isn't booting properly after installing 2 gtx 780's?
Hi guys.
Bought 2 new gtx 780's gigabyte overclocked editions to replace my 2 580's gigabyte overclocked editions . After installing the new cards my computer wouldn't start . A little worried I fiddled around and wondered if its a PSU problem so I put 1 gtx 580 back in and it booted up fine . So I then took the 580 out again and put the 2 x 780's in again and this time my PC started . Problem solved ? No . This time now I am freezing/hanging on the motherboard screen then I'm going to another screen that blinks the _symbol . I will provide screenshots and my system specs to help you guys Analize my problem and hopefully resolve this issue . My guess at this stage is will I have to maybe reformat the whole computer? Maybe try a repair ? I just don't know . Please help?

First screenshot after boot

Second screenshot after motherboard screenshot. Maybe 1 minute . Much longer then when loading to desktop normally

Please help .

I have now also tried putting 1 gtx 580 in . And I uninstalled the old driver and used a cleaner to completely remove the registry for it . And still no go . Anyone with any ideas ?

Hi

Here is the official spec of GTX 580 - http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-580/specifications

Spec of GTX 780http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/introducing-the-geforce-gtx-780

According to the specs, GTX 580 and 780 consumes almost same power so an SMPS issue is less likely. My guess is either one of the card is faulty. Disable SLI and test the cards one by one. Also update the motherboard BIOS to the latest version.

Ok I will be trying an update of the bios . Just for some information added I can inform you I have tried both 780's singular and still the same problem . I guess getting 2 cards DOA would be highly unlikely right ? But not impossible . I will try this bios update suggested . Also what do you think of a full system reformat ? Do you think it's possible it will work ?

Just a question . It seems my current bios version is f6 http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1129x89&s=5

Do I update completely to the latest version for my motherboard ? F9 . As to pass beta version as well ?
