Diagnostic policy service not running

Hi there , I have fairly basic knowledge of computer workings , so some instructions in laymans terms would be fantastic , I have windows 7 , cannot connect to wifi as it says limited access , troubleshooting says the diagnostic policy service is not running , please help

Ok, welcome to Bleeping Computer Forums,


Click Start>Click Run> Type Services.msc


this will load windows services control panel with will allow you to enable disable start and stop services and set when they run.


in the list scroll down and find some thing called diagnostic policy service


once you have found this service check that it is set to automatic and the service is started




you can see in the image where it states status this should be set to running and startup type to automatic.


if the service is not running but set the manual or automatic delayed for what ever reason just click on start and the service will start


to stop and start services is located on the left hand pane of the services control panel.


if however the service is set to disabled re enable it and then start the service restart the pc and re run the diagnostic tool. 


have you switched your router on and off again to reset the router and restarted the pc if no please do this as well as the above is yes just do the above.
