Ok so I tried to post in another thread but never got an answer so I will try and run through what my problem is.

When I leave my computer alone say for 15 minutes most of the time when I come back the computer is frozen and the mouse cursor is not updating properly (like when going from hyperlink showing the hand and finger its not updating back to normal mouse cursor) My CPU usage never gets over 3-5% and memory never gets over 19% so it shouldn't be that. I am having a problem with one particular windows update never actually updating so that may be my problem but I can't get it to work.

Here is the update

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656351)

Below is my Speccy information and please let me know what else I should put up here to help.

Hi

How the system works when you normally use it ? . From the specs i assume the main purpose is to play games. Did you experience frequent crashes during gaming ?

Hi

How the system works when you normally use it ? . From the specs i assume the main purpose is to play games. Did you experience frequent crashes during gaming ?

No I use this as a business computer so I don't play any games on it we just needed higher specs for some video editing.

Hi

How the system works when performing video editing or rendering ? . Is the issue only happens when it is in an idle state ?

Hi

From the description you provided, i suspect one of your system component is not switching to the power on state (s0) when resuming from standby. It is hard to say what device it is. Follow the below steps as a preliminary troubleshooting step.

- Set the power option to High Performance .

Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the Power Options icon

1200d1229784422t-power-plan-settings-cha

You may see Balanced , Power saver and high performance options in there. Make sure to set the power option to the High performance mode

If you don't see a High Performance mode in there, choose Balanced instead. Then click on the Change Plan setting link to the right of the power plan. Now select Change Advanced Power settings.

1203d1229784422t-power-plan-settings-cha

Set the mode to High Performance [Active] and restart the system.

If you still have problem after changing the plan setting, once again open the   Change Advanced Power settings window. You will see power options for individual items there.

Expand Hard Disk and  change the Turn Off Hard Disk after setting to 45 minutes.

Report how the system behaves after the changes.

I don't ever go into standby or sleep mode and I don't have a power save mode on though

Hi

As you can see from the pictures, each device has it's own power settings. Even if the system didn't enter in to sleep, each device will enter in to a power saving mode according to the setting. Changing the power setting of each device one by one to Do not power off mode may probably reveal the culprit.

Hi

I assume you are using Crucial M4 as the OS disk and the HDD for data storage.  Crucial and OCZ SSD drives are notoriously famous for hanging, crashing and blue screens. Below are some example posts with similar issues.

In case of OCZ,i have seen great improvement after updating firmware. Here is the firmware update link for your Crucial M4 drive.

http://www.crucial.com/firmware/m4/070H/1.0.0.90_Crucial_070H.07.00_SSDFirmwareUpdate_Signed.zip

Release note :

The following is a summary of changes between 040H and 070H, which are independent of operating system:

Resolved a power-up timing issue that could result in a drive hang, resulting in an inability to communicate with the host computer. The hang condition would typically occur during power-up or resume from Sleep or Hibernate. Most often, a new power cycle will clear the condition and allow normal operations to continue. The failure mode has only been observed in factory test. The failure mode is believed to have been contained to the factory. This fix is being implemented for all new builds, for all form factors, as a precautionary measure. The fix may be implemented in the field, as desired, to prevent occurrence of this boot-time failure. To date, no known field returns have been shown to be related to this issue. A failure of this type would typically be recoverable by a system reset.

It is recommended to backup any data on the SSD before updating firmware.
