Okay, firstly I am not a Mac person whatsoever. I know just about nothing in regards to how they work regarding infections etc. I'll just start where the problem began. About two weeks ago I was browsing the internet on my Mac (I use Firefox) , and it was running perfectly fine. Then suddenly the internet would not work. My Mac said the connection was fine though. It could not detect any problems with the connection, and it read that it was connected to the internet; yet none of the pages would load. I decided to refresh the router, but just had the same results. I disconnected the power from the router waited a few minutes and connected it back. Same results. I then thought maybe it was the modem. So I powered off the modem waited and plugged it back in. This time the Mac did not pick up the internet whatsoever, but my PC did. I then reset the router and used my PC to reconfigure the router. The Mac finally picked up the internet, but the pages loaded at a snails pace. I ended up being fed up with the whole and left for about 6 hours and came back to find it was loading things slightly better, but the images would not load. Now it's at the point where it's loading pages quickly (not as quick as it used to before the incident, but manageable), but images are still loading at a snails pace. Image heavy sites are extremely slow to load. I'm not sure if this is some kind of bug or something to do with hardware? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried temporarily hooking the MacBook Pro up directly to the modem (i.e. bypass the router) and see if that helps? That would tell us if we can rule some sort of issue or conflict with the router.

Also, have you tried a different browser such as Safari or Chrome to see if they behave the same way?

Are you using WiFi or Ethernet for the Internet connection? Have you tried the other connection type to see if it helps at all (i.e. if using WiFi, try Ethernet)?
