Im running Windows XP.....In my Updates I have this and dont know what it is.....


Dell Inc.-Video-Intel ® 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family


I have no idea what it is or if I need it.

Should I download it?

It looks like a update, is your Dell set for automatic updates? Read what's at this site below.

Yes its set for automatic updates. A friend said it was a driver for my video card and to download it...so I did. I hope he knows what hes talking about.

How did that question come about?

Were you notified in some way that this was necessary for your computer either by Dell or Intel?

The 915G driver is recommended by Dell for Dimension 4700 and Optiplex SX/GX280. This is a recommended update from Dell. If you have any problems installing it, it may not be the correct driver for your system. If you have problems after installing it, you can roll back the driver to the previous one from your Device Manager.

It was listed in my Microsoft Updates under hardware. I installed it no problem .So....I dont need it??

Oh....I have a Dimension E310...if you need to know that..

If either Microsoft or Dell notified you that you needed it, you probably did.
