I have come across a problem with the internet connection on a desktop pc ( win 7 ).
No matter which browser I use I can not connect to websites.
I pinged my gateway and sometimes get a reply , sometimes get no reply, and sometimes get 1 or 2 out of 4 replies.

I tried the c:/resetlog txt command and the netsh winsok reset command ( as admin ) as I was sure that renewing these

would solve the tcpip and winsok problems but even though I got positive replies it did not help and the problem still remains.

Web pages will not load and if they do load it is only after a very long time.

It is a wireless connection and the router and modem have been reset numerous times.

The connection did work in the past and was good - I have 3 other computers using the connection
and no problems with them.

I am using a new USB wifi adapter. Was using a dlink network card before and thought that was the problem but

apparently is isn't and the card is still ok.I am pretty sure that something in the Windows 7 OS is the cause of the problem

but I dont have a clue what. Network diagnostics cant find the problem.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Download MiniToolBox and open/run the program.
When open, checkmark or select all options then click Go.

Ok your logs looks good and the IP address is valid and connected by your router. I see some outdated softwares like flash player installed. Remove flash player by Add or Remove programs and install the 11.7 latest version http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Remove also Tuneup utility as it is not recommended. Do you see the problem by wired or LAN connection?

Download SecurityCheck.exe from Here

. Run SecurityCheck and follow the instruction from inside the code box.
. When the scan is finished, a notepad will automatically open as check.txt
Please copy and paste the contents here on your next reply.

Have to go now, will be back as soon as I 'm available.

Update and or install Service Pack 1 for Windows7 from here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-PH/windows7/install-windows-7-service-pack-1

Remove all instances of wifi drivers by add or remove program and install only either the wifi PCI card or USB adapter. Check for any updated version from the manufacturing support site. Remove out of date Flash Player as suggested and your all wireless network profiles http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/120670-wireless-network-remove.html and connect manually again. Did you happen to uninstall AVG using their removal tool or not? How far is your desktop from the router access point?

The desktop is about 7 meters - in a diffrent room - from the router access point. I just re-installed windows 7 on the computer ( May 2013 version ) and will update

later after checking. .

Okay..works fine with LAN.  Installed Flash player 11.7.

There is no 'Manage Advanced Networks" on the right - only change advanced sharing settings - and when I click on that

of course it takes me to advanced sharing settings.

I'm not sure where you read this part... but maybe you were referring to Manage Wireless Networks? It is located on the left window part of the Network and Sharing Center as described from this link http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/120670-wireless-network-remove.html However, it may not be present if you use the USB wireless adapter control center which has a separate settings from Windows usually after installing the drivers itself. This can also be ignored for now since the computer OS is reinstalled as all settings/setup are cleared already. How's the wireless connection problem, is it resolved?

Actually I do have a wireless pci card ( dlink N ) in the computer but I disabled this anyway. The only way to remove it is physically as removing the drivers etc

in device manager only helps until I reboot as Windows recognizes the card and automatically installs the drivers on starting.  However with the pci card disabled

and only the USB adapter working webpages do eventually load but not immediately - only after 1-2 minutes. I do get ping replies so I can access the router but

again it is not immediate.

I was thinking of distance and interferences somehow at this point. Do you pick up a good signal and can you run a speedtest also to check on your download/upload speed? How about the updating drivers to the latest version?

All drivers are updated already.....and the is an excellent signal....i have not tried run a speed test but I will do - that is assuming the pages will load. I have

a 30 mb internet connection. We have an ipad at home and the signal is strong too even from a greater distance.

I have no references to backup if the PCI card or USB adapter have good views or other users are satisfied these wifi card/adapter or is it just a setting or distance/interferences. Can you post the complete router model which your desktop is using as access point? Maybe its from a setting that needs to be look into also.
