My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate. The system recognizes the flash drive and I have moved it to first as a boot option, saved and rebooted. The system still boots from the hard drive(Windows) instead of Ubuntu which is on the flashdrive.  Is there a section on my OS control panel which would allow me to set a one-time boot from the flashdrive? Any help would be appreciated. aki

Hi, If you start hitting f12 when the Dell logo appears that should bring you to the boot device menu. Note that the flash drive has to be plugged in before you turn on the computer and must be bootable. It should then boot your selection. If it doesn't that means what You are trying to boot isn't bootable.

From that Boot Device menu you can choose what device to boot from as well as run the built in diagnostics.

Good Luck

Roger
