Just for grins, I am attempting to transfer a picture from my Win 7 computer to my Ipad. I keep getting the dialogue "Device has either stopped working or has been

disconnected."

I tried a couple different usb ports to make sure it wasn't the computer.....same result.  Am I doing something wrong, or is there a conflict somewhere?

Well, if it is simply one picture, the easiest thing to do would be email it to yourself.

But I'm guessing you want to find the root of your problem?

Try using another cable. Borrow one if you must, all you need to do is eliminate all the variables till we find the problem. Are you jailbroken?

It's not a critical issue, but I would have liked to be able to do it.  I don't know what you mean by 'jailbroken'

Do you know what Cydia is? If you don't then don't worry about it.

Can you still connect to itunes, or does it still display that message?

I can connect to iTunes. I just googled Cydia---------no, my Ipad is not jailbroken.

The problem is that I wanted to copy a photo directly to the Ipad from a file on the computer. I tried it a couple of ways, but still got that message. I CAN copy a photo from the internet, but not from a direct hookup to the computer. Basically, it's a minor annoyance. Other than syncing, I doubt if I'd spend much time hooking up to the computer with it.

Using itunes to transfer photos is always the best option. I'm guessing you just opened up your ipad using windows then tried to copy it to your computer?

Anyhow, glad you were able to fix it!

Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes might fix the problem

You should be able to directly download images without iTunes. Simply connect your device, press the Windows start key, press computer, and double click the name of your device. In the DCIM folder you should see a list of albums you have, if any at all. Just copy/paste to the destination folder of your choice.
