Hi,

I am new to this site and this is my first post. From past 1 month, I am facing the problem of fluctuating free space. Somewhere on the net, I found that , it may be due to some malware , which might be eating free space.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit OS and have Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 Anti- Virus.

I ran Combofix Software and it deleted some files from   "c:\users\abc\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk\_hiddenPbk  ".

I am attaching the log of Combofix along with this mail.

Please help me in identifying & correcting the problem.

Thanks and Regards,

Rahul Gabda.

Please describe what you mean by "fluctuating free space". EXACTLY what is happening?

Thanks for the reply Alan.

I have a 500 GB Western Digital Hard Drive installed on my  system, of which C Drive is allocated 50 GB. Currently, the free space is 12 GB in C drive and it reaches to the minimum of 900 Mb.

To get back the free space, I perform, De-fragment, Error- Checking at Start-Up and Wipe Free Space tools of Windows. After 2-3 days of continuous process, I manage to get back the free space.

From past 1 month, I had been facing this problem, and Computer becomes extremely slow, once the free starts decreasing in C drive.

And one more thing, Last month only , my 11 year old nephew tried to download some free game from Internet , because of which I got some "Funmoods " Search Engine Installed on Chrome, firefox and IE. I managed to remove it from Google Chrome, but I guess, its still there in system. Could there be any co-relation between this and my system losing its free space in C drive?

Regards,

Rahul Gabda.

I suggest you post in the Am I Infected forum on this site. Let's determine whether or not malware is to blame.
