When a booted up my system today, my display settings were changed to a low resolution setting. I have tried to change them back, but cannot seem to change the settings to what they were before booting up.

I thought maybe my display driver was somehow corrupted, so I down loaded and installed the most recent driver. This has not helped.

Several times my monitor has gone to black, come back to show my desktop, and whatever applications I have open, but the fonts and graphics seem slightly altered.

Could this be the result of malware or a virus.

I have run Malwarebytes and Avast checks, but the returned no results.

I am running Windows XP with a ATI Xpress 200 display adapter

Thanks,

Robert

I'd think it could be a failing video chip/card...or damaged drivers.

Did you uninstall the old drivers before attempting to update?

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

**** End of log ****

Here is the Speccy snapshot link

http://speccy.piriform.com/results/cNDZg5OIhN8iQLLfGWiAZU7

It seems I was having a resolution issue when using FireFox. After booting up my system, experiencing resolution problems and installing new graphic drivers (I did not unintall the previous drivers), when I launched Firefox my screen would go black for a few seconds, then return but the resolution would be blurry. I did a clean reinstall of Firefox today. When I now launch Firefox, my screen does not go black, the resolution is clear, but webpages still do not look like they did before I initially had this problem.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks again for any help.

Robert

Thanks :).

Download driver at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-39118-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=228&product=1815823&sw_lang= .

.

Go to Device Manager...uninstall the driver for the ATI/AMD graphics chip.  Reboot the system.

Install the downloaded driver.

FWIW:  You seem to have Media Center configured...but no capture device.  I suggest disabling WMC or uninstalling it.
