Alright so I've got a pretty major issue on my hands. Today my malware bytes trial ran out so I went to go download my paid for Norton Virus protection program. Well, it said it contained a virus. Of course, I found this fishy. After trying to install other things, I realized every file I tried to download on to my computer said it contained a virus. I know my settings aren't what is preventing this because I have no virus protection program on my computer at the moment. (Minus CCleaner and an expired Malware Bytes). On top of that, I went to look up my firewall settings and my firewall isn't even turned on. It is also not even located in the Services on my computer. When I try to restore my firewall settings, I get an error message saying, "Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error Code: 0x80070424"
Could a virus be infecting my downloads and claiming that even safe downloads have viruses?
Is this virus also affecting my firewall?
I appreciate any and all help I can get.
EDIT: I fixed the firewall issue by following a solution on another site from major googling this morning. If anyone is interested in how to solve the firewall issue, here are the steps I followed:
However I am still having the download issues on internet explorer. So if anyone knows of any solutions please let me know!
