I wasn't sure if I should even post this, but I kinda don't have a choice. My Windows Media Player does not open. I use Windows 7 on a Dell XPS 15.

Here's what the screen looks like when I try to do so.

I seldom use Windows Media Player as I prefer other alternatives.

You can try to disable, then re-enable Windows Media Player and turn off software that depends on it to see if that resolves the problem by referring to this Microsoft article: Turn Windows features on or off. In you installed any third-party media players be aware that some may cause issues with Windows Media Player.

You can download and install the latest Codec Installation Package which is used to correct problems experienced with previously-downloaded codecs.

Troubleshooting Windows Media Player:
Open the Windows Media Player Library troubleshooter
Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter
Perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 7/8/Vista

If none of these solutions work and no one else has any suggestions, you can ask for assistance at The Green Button Official Media Center Community. Just click the link for your operating system version used with Windows Media Player.
