FBI ransomeware - safemode inoperable

I got hit today and AVG did not even blink. I cannot open my computer in any of the 3 available safe modes and the ransomware takes over my desktop within seconds of a restart. I have unplugged the Ethernet but that does nothing to delay the inevitable.

 

So far I have burned and used the AVG Rescue CD (at startup) and have deleted some java infected files nested under documents and settings but still cannot access my PC. I am actually typing this from a healthy PC as the ransomware took over the entire desktop. No run prompts, no task manager no safe mode. I cannot do anything with the PC unless it is on a CD and booted at startup.

 

OS is XP Pro. Machine is a Dell Insprion 530s.

Hello

Lets see if we can get this to run
  • Download OTLPE from either location and save it to your desktop:

    http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTLPEStd.exe
    http://ottools.noahdfear.net/OTLPEStd.exe
  • Double click the OTLPENet icon on your desktop
  • "Do you want to burn the CD?" choose Yes
  • ImgBurn will automatically extract and load the OTLPE Iso to be burned to CD
  • Place a blank CD in your CD-Rom
  • Click imgbrn.png to start the burn process
  • You will see a dialog "Operation successfully completed"
  • Boot the non-working computer using the boot CD you just created
  • In order to do so, the computer must be set to boot from the CD first

    Note : For information click here
  • Your system should now display a REATOGO-X-PE desktop.
  • Double-click on the OTLPE icon.
  • Select the Windows folder of the infected drive if it asks for a location
  • When asked "Do you wish to load the remote registry", select Yes
  • When asked "Do you wish to load remote user profile(s) for scanning", select Yes
  • Ensure the box "Automatically Load All Remaining Users" is checked and press "OK"
  • OTL should now start.
  • Push runscanbutton.png
  • When finished, the file will be saved in drive C:\OTL.txt
  • Copy this file to your USB drive.
  • Please post the contents of the C:\OTL.txt file in your next reply.

I have not heard from you in a couple of days so I am coming by to check on you to see if you are having problems or you just need some more time.

Also to remind you that it is very important that we finish the process completely so as to not get reinfected. I will let you know when we are complete and I will ask to remove our tools

I believe I have fixed the issue. I was able to finally enter the infected PC in safe mode and run MBAM which isolated the ransomware and removed the Trojan files. I then ran AVG and ESET (online) scanners to make sure nothing was lingering and MBAM once more. So far all seems well but I am open to running a PC report if you want to check make sure I got it all.

if you want to do a cleaning then run these programs for me




These are the programs I would like you to run next, if you have any problems with one of these just skip it and move on to the next one.

-AdwCleaner-

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Delete.
  • Confirm each time with Ok.
  • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
-Junkware-Removal-Tool-

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
When they are complete let me have the two reports and let me know how things are running.
