Hello everyone,

I was in the midst of editing a film using Adobe Premiere CS6 when all of a sudden my screen turned distorted and started this sort of grain/snow thing:

f8zkQAE.jpg

Shortly afterword the Blue Screen of death came up (still distorted) and my computer restarted.

Upon second boot-up it worked fine again for a few minutes but eventually the screen came back and my computer froze -- forcing me to shut it down.

It allows me to boot up in safemode but the weird grain stuff is always there (as shown in the picture). I have video as well if that would help. I also attempted to use System Restore to Restore my system to what it was before this started happening but that did not work.

I'm not sure if it's a virus or something wrong with my graphics card. I tried to get my graphic cards spec but I can't find it in Safe Mode.

TO SUMMARIZE: I can't run my computer for more than a few minutes without a weird grainy screen coming up and distorting my screen and freezing my computer --- forcing me to shut down.

System:

Hewlett-Packard Company

Model: e9160t

Processor: INtel® Core ™2 Quad CPU Q3D0 @ 2.5 GHz-2.49 GHz

Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB

System type: 64-Bit  Operating System

If your computer is not overheating and the issue is present in safe mode as well it looks like your video card is going bad.

Download siv.zip (System Information Viewer) from here: System Information Viewer
Unzip downloaded file.
For 32-bit systems double click on SIV32X.exe to run the tool.
For 64-bit systems double click on SIV64X.exe to run the tool.
Click on Copy button at the bottom left.
That will save all information to the Clipboard.
Open Notepad.
Hold CTRL key on your keyboard and press V key.
That will paste all info to the Notepad.
Copy all content and paste it into your next reply.

Hey Broni!

Thanks for the quick reply.

I can't unfortunately reach the internet on Safe Mode or stay on the computer long enough to get on the internet to download that. I did, however, find the Graphics card spec on my Desktop sticker:

NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 graphics card with 1.5 GB dedicated graphics memory

Does that help?

Can you access Safe Mode with Networking?

If not you can download the above utility on another computer and use USB flash drive to transfer it to this computer.

Wow I definitely should have thought of either one.

Now I'm having a problem downloading your link above. When I right click -> save link as it saves as the .zip but when I attempt to open it with winrar or any other zip program it says:

"The archive is either an unknown format or is either in unknown format or damaged"

Temperatures are fine.

In my opinion you need new video card.

That's good to hear. Other worries were that it was the power source in trouble...is that a likelihood?

Here's a video: http://youtu.be/WI9sGgN7qo0

Thanks so much for the time by the way

Update: It's been fixed. It was the graphics card that was the problem.

Thanks Broni!!
