My computer has been restarting itself randomly for awhile now, at least the last month, possibly longer. I run my anti virus programs every time and nothing ever pops up, so I have been assuming that it's just been due to over heating or being a few years old. But just now it crashed and before it restarted I got a blue screen telling me that Windows had encountered a problem and needed to shut down.

That's a problem, and the last time something like that happened to me there was a pretty nasty trojan involved and I had to come here for help. I let it reboot, started running my anti virus programs and I had literally just gotten here to start a help thread when it crashed again with the same blue screen message.

That time I told it to restart in safemode, and it was able to run the anti virus programs sucessfully. Spybot and Malwarebytes are both still telling me there is nothing, and there have been no pop ups from AVG.

Recent changes to my computer is mostly just that yesterday my wireless router crapped out, and I had to wire myself right to the modem. (At least that's what tech support told me I was doing.) The most recent programs I have downloaded are Spotify,  a Silverlight update, and Comodo Internet Security.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate. The first time it crashed today I was actively using both Spotify and Firefox, and the second time it was just Firefox.

Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump folder. Do you see any dmp logs from the folder?  If yes, then read the instruction below. If not, configure kernel memory dump debugging information under startup and recovery.

> Right-click My Computer and choose Properties.

> Go to Advanced System Settings - Advance Tab.

> Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings...

> Look for 'write debugging information' and use Kernel memory dump

> Checkmark overwrite any existing file

If there are latest created minidumps under C:\Windows\Minidump folder, please post the latest dmp logs (atleast 5) by :

> Highlight (holding ctrl key) and choosing the dmp logs by hitting enter or left mouse click.

> Right-click and choose send to desktop.

> When on desktop, highlight all dmp logs and right-click and send to compressed zipped folder.

> Upload and share the link by registering here https://www.box.com/
* minidumps log sample 010613 - 16676 -01.dmp -> 01 is for month - 06 for day - 13 is for year.

Try downloading Speccy and then install the program.  To post and publish a snapshot of your PC.
. In the Menu bar, click File -> Publish Snapshot
. Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
. On your next reply, right-click on a empty space and click Paste on reply box then click Post.

Download MiniToolBox and run the program. Select
List Last 10 Event Viewers, List Installed Programs and List Users, Partitions and Memory Size then click Go.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

How is your monitor connected by the desktop? DVI / VGA? Please post the computer model/brand and PSU wattage also.

VGA;

Model/Brand of what specifically? My ex built this for me, I didn't buy it from a store so it's not all one brand.

Says the total power is 700w?

What can I do about the FF Flashplayer crash?

Reinstall your Flashplayer plugin (uncheck any scanner offer when installing/downloading) and Firefox browser. There are also 3 antiviruses installed which could cause unwanted performance and conflict in your system - Comodo Internet Security, Microsoft Security Client and AVG 2013. Is Comodo a trial or paid version? To remove AVG http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities and Comodo http://www.wikihow.com/Uninstall-Comodo-Internet-Security-Premium then leave MSE as your protection software. Try uninstalling and upgrading your ATI graphics card here and see if there is a clean install option when using the new driver and use recommended resolution. See if you still get any restarting problem.

Ok, I did all that except, I didn't uninstall Comodo because my windows firewall won't turn on and that's what I am using instead.

It ran great all yesterday, but then it restarted itself today. There was no blue screen with it, though.

Try disabling auto restart and see if the system would produce any error code or bluescreen. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ss/disable-auto-restart-vista.htm Please check your PSU brand also. Do you happen to have added any hardware before this started occuring? I see you have 3 drives installed.

I disabled the auto restart. My PSU is a Rosewill rg700, and I have not recently added any hardware. There hasn't been any change to the hardware since the computer was built.

Ok. See if Windows would produce the bluescreen error since autorestart is disabled. Please see if the problem is consistent on what computer activity you are in also. If the problem becomes more frequent and does not produce any error messages or bluescreen, try running it safemode or safemode in networking for awhile to check on the difference. That way we would know if its a hardware or software that is causing the issue.

Ok, so it just restarted, even though we apparently disabled that? There was still no blue screen. As far as computer activity, I almost always have 2 Firefox windows open and Spotify running but it's restarted without Spotify running before. Things that need Flash have been more slow? Take longer to load, jumping the screen as I scroll, gifs will pause for sometimes a whole minute (and the whole screen with them).

I hadn't read your response before it restarted so I didn't know to start it in safe mode, but I will next time.

So it restarted again about 20 minutes after my previous post and I started it in 'safe mode with networking'. It ran ok for about 3 hours, it just shut down again and with a blue screen this time. I took a picture of it.

So that's 3 restarts just today, which is way more than usual.

http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x00000124

Usual causes:  Hardware, Incompatibility, May be driver corruption

Try removing spotify first from your system and see if the bluescreen would disappear. It's also possible that Comodo is a part of the bluescreen flagging a certain software like spotify. Please update or reinstall your Realtek Network card from the manufacturing support site.
