Hi, I'm new here. I purchased a samsung series 3 today... Get it home and it appears to have had windows stripped (excuse my terminology I am computer illiterate!) I also received a disc with 'this media is provided to restore the applications and drivers provided by samsung if they do not run properly' system software media series 3 - Dos. For windows 8.

How do I reinstall windows? Can I reinstall windows? - got as far as changing the boot order to try and boot from disc but I really have no idea what I am doing (or possibly that's the wrong thing to do) :(

Thanks in advance :)

Well if the hard drive was formatted and Windows was removed you'll need a Windows Installation disc. Whatever disc you have just put it in the disc drive and try running it, if nothing works then you'll just have to get an Installation disc from a friend or store.

If this is a new computer and you are unable to activate/ set up Windows 8 after first power up, then it is likely

defective and you should return to the store.

The disk provided is for restoring....not new set up. Windows 8 should already be installed on a new computer.

Hi

What you purchased is a standard laptop that came without Windows. They are pretty common in Asian countries. You need to buy either Windows 7 or Windows 8 retail version separately.

Most of all Samsung computers come with No OS. Unless it said it comes with something. So that disk is use for restoration when it is unbootable.(Registry damaged etc.)And DOS can do that perfectly. You need to purchase Windows 8 seperately.

Thank you.
