I continue to have numerous computer freezes and crashes with the spinning blue circle. This morning Firefox crashed once and greyed out several times with the spinning blue circle going round and round. Outlook now has started freezing with the message trying to contact the server.

Any ideas on how I can clear all this up once and for all?

Thanks.

Do you mean the mouse cursor?

Could you provide more detail, like when did that problem happen (maybe after you installed a program, that issue happened or recently, do you download programs/movies/music from websites)

This morning I was simply opening some web pages in Firefox. Nothing unusal just various pages on CNN or BBC. Firefox greyed out and the mouse cursor became a spinning blue wheel. I could still control iTunes but Outlook also frooze as i received the message "trying to contact the server." After about a minute and a half it cleared up, but then happened a couple of more times to Firefox although the freeze did not last as long.

This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time. I have periods of  a few days when all is well and then back to these problems. It normally happens when I first wake the computer from hibernation but this morning's events well an hour or so later.

Thanks for any assistance.

Have you had any updates for your Microsoft Office 2007?

If you have try doing a System Restore to a date prior to the update.

If this doesn't work you can uninstall and then reinstall the program.

Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click Cmd.exe, click Run as administrator, and then click Continue.

Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

Net Stop Virtual Disk

Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

Net Start Virtual Disk

Can't recall about updates for Microsoft Office. Is it causing the trouble?

You wrote "type the following command" twice but did not specify a command.

Thanks.

Also, when I pull up cmd.exe and right click there is no option to run as administrator.

Go to the Control Panel, Uninstall Program, and click on View Installed Updates.  You will be able to see what has been installed recently.

What missing commands?

No missing commands. My error.

On April 11, 2013 there were several updates to Microsoft Office, security updates to Office, and service pack 3 for microsoft office.

When I type those commands I get this message:

The syntax of this command is:

NET STOP

service

The first command is to stop the service, the second is to restart the service.  There are times when this can resolve the issue.

By the way, you were correct about the missing commands, for some reason the didn't post.  I edited the post to add them a second time.
