Hi,

I am running W7 on a Lenovo laptop.  Almost always, when my computer resumes from hibernation it recovers from crash mode.    Error says "Power State Failure".   I have updated drivers and cleaned up my startup somewhat but problem still persists.   I downloaded Blue Screen Viewer as per suggestion in other thread - attached results.  Note first two rows were highlighted in pink.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

 Checkmark the following checkboxes:

List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click on Go to start the scan.  Once it is finished highlight the text, copy it and paste it in your next post.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Use this Microsoft Support and use the Fix it tool.

Download the Microsoft Hotfix.

Reboot and see if this helps.

Thanks.   I applied both but it will take a day or two to see if it works.   The problem usually occurs after the pc hibernates overnight.   If I put in hibernate mode and reboot right away it usually does not occur.

I had tried uninstalling BioExcess by Egistec which is Lenovo fingerprint reader/driver and I noticed today that since I uninstalled it (few days ago) an exclamation point appeared in device manager.   I selected it and uninstalled that too.

Anyway,  I will post back within a day or two and let you know if it reoccurs

Try this...  Stop error when you put a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 to sleep or into hibernation, or when you restart the computer: "0x9F"

Are you using the registry cleaner portion of Ccleaner?

Please run chkdsk /r and sfc /scannow

Click on the Start orb startorb_zps06e1f985.png , type in cmd in the Search programs and files box.  When cmd is seen in Programs right click on it, then click on Run as administrator.

You will see a screen similar to the one below.

Type in chkdsk c:/r then press Enter.

You will receieve the message "CHKDSK cannot be run because it is in use by another process.  Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?  <Y/N>".

Type in Y and press Enter.

Restart your computer to start the scan.

This will take a while to run, please be patient and allow it to complete the scan.

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted and incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Click on the Start orb startorb_zps06e1f985.png, the type in cmd in the Search programs and files.

cmd will appear in Programs above, right click on it, then click on Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, enter the password, or click Allow.

A page similar to the one below will open.

Type in sfc /scannow and then press Enter to start the scan.

Did you run the scans?

The following was originally posted by Animal, one or our Site Administrators.

Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons:

Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable.

Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Each vendor uses different criteria as to what constitutes a "bad entry". One cleaner may find entries on your system that will not cause problems when removed, another may not find the same entries, and still another may want to remove entries required for a program to work.

Not all registry cleaners create a backup of the registry before making changes. If the changes prevent the system from booting up, then there is no backup available to restore it in order to regain functionality. A backup of the registry is essential BEFORE making any changes to the registry.

Improperly removing registry entries can hamper malware disinfection and make the removal process more difficult if your computer becomes infected. For example, removing malware related registry entries before the infection is properly identified can contribute to system instability and even make the malware undetectable to removal tools.

The usefulness of cleaning the registry is highly overrated and can be dangerous. In most cases, using a cleaner to remove obsolete, invalid, and erroneous entries does not affect system performance but it can result in unpredictable results.

Unless you have a particular problem that requires a registry edit to correct it, I would suggest you leave the registry alone. Using registry cleaning tools unnecessarily or incorrectly could lead to disastrous effects on your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. For routine use, the benefits to your computer are negligible while the potential risks are great.

I just finished

Do not know if chkdisk fixed anything because when I finished it was at login screen.

Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I also have zipped up a full dmp file from this morning but I think it is too large to attach here
