Hey gang,

My computer has recently began to restart when one of two things are happening.  Either there is too much going on, like too many programs opened or window tabs.  The other is usually when I'm watching a video.  I have updated my video card driver so I know that is up to date.  I opened the computer and cleaned out a bunch of dust and I think that has helped it to at least run a bit more quiet and last a bit longer before shutting down.  I thought initially it was an over heating problem but now I'm starting to think otherwise.  I'm not sure what other information you guys need but any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.  The computer is only a few  years old and was put together by a friend.  This is really the first time I've had any issues.  Thanks in advance.

You tried to install ComboFix ...why?  Is there any evidence of a mwlare problem?\

<<Error: (04/22/2013 11:20:24 PM) (Source: VDS Basic Provider) (User: )   Description: Unexpected failure. Error code: 490@01010004>>

Try uninstalling Daemon Tools...

I'd also test each module of RAM...singly and then collectively...using Memtest86+.

You reflect 2GB of RAM, which is the stated Microsoft minimum for Win 7 Ultimate.  Most of us recognize that the stated MS minimums...do not allow for smooth performance or heavyj-duty installation of programs.  "Minimum" means "with very few programs" in MS-speak, IMO

Your install date reads 17 Jan 2011.  When did these problems begin?

Louis.

I've had combofix and last time I used it was to fix a malaware problem about a month ago.  I unistalled Daemon Tools.  I created the Memtest86+ CD-Rom but it failed to work upon start up.  Kept getting an error.  The computer is only 2 years old so I would find it very hard to believe if there was a RAM issue anyway.  The problems began about a month ago I want to say.  That's actually also around the time that we got a new router, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

<<The problems began about a month ago I want to say.>>

Do you think that's a coincidence?

My suggestion would be to initiate a new topic in the Am I Infected forum, advising them of the two items above and asking them to check your system for malware.  In the interim, I'll leave this topic open and monitor your new topic in AII.

Louis
