I've got some questions about encrypted (stock) Android phones/tablets.

  1. What actaully gets encrypted?
  2. Are there any performance hits?
  3. What does the boot-time password screen look like? What features are accessible from it?
  4. Is there a way to make apps (eg. locate my phone apps) run before the password is entered on the boot-time prompt?
  5. Can the phone recieve phone calls or messages before the password is entered?
