I have cleaned several Windows 7 machines from the FBI Fake Alert Virus by going into SAFE mode and then installing and running Malawarebytes.

I tried that today on a friends computer and everyone I would get to Save mode it would restart.

Does it make any sense to using an Emergency Start Up disk and then choose System Restore to go back before he picked up this malaware??

If I can get into his desktop, I could run malawarebytes and eliminate the threat.

Thanks for any and all suggestons.

Steve Bell

Try booting into safemode with command prompt. Then type in  rstrui.exe  then hit enter. This will open up system restore. restore to an earlier time before infected by this virus. Restart computer it should be ok now. Then run malawarebytes on computer. I did this on my sons computer and it worked fine. Big Eddie
