What "scan" did you run...which convinces you that the file system is not courrpted?

Forgive me if I'm wrong...but chkdsk is not the right tool to check for file corruption.

Chkdsk /r is a good tool...but it will not overcome corrupt/damaged system files.

How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 .Note that there is mention/indication at all...that running chkdsk /r will overcome damaged files.

The correct tool would be to run the sfc /scannow command.

How To Use SFC Scannow to Repair Windows System Files - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

List last 10 Event Viewer log

  List Installed Programs

List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 , taking care to post the link.  Do not copy/paste data from the report.

.

Those errors indicate a problem...one which could account for all other errors noted.

I would run the chkdsk /r command first.  If any error messages appear before the command completes...which indicate that the chkdsk /r cannot complete...post those in your next update.  Inability for chkdsk /r completion can indicate a problem with the NTFS file system or the hard drive itself.
