One of two things come to mind. Since I don't know exactly what light what you're referring to. It's either A: The read/write activity of your hard drive. Or B: to a lesser possibility the data transfer activity of your network card.

I would say you have about a 75% chance it's your hard drive activity light.

I think it's something to do with hard drive because it flashes because hard drive is 'thinking' and it only goes solid when something is trying to load like a 'update from my anti-virus' for example.

Constant activity may mean that you need to so some maintenance.

Try running the chkdsk /r command.  Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter.  Type Y in new window and hit Enter.  Reboot....the command will execute.  Upon completion of the command, the system will boot into Windows.

I wouldn't worry about it if your computer is working alright.

My hard drive light flashes like a slow steady heartbeat and it's reassuring to know it's alive, and it stays on when something is downloading, it's all pretty normal.
