Decided to use my netbook after some time as laptop is failing (that's another story). It's HORRIBLY slow. I have ran anti virus and ad aware software too. What is going on?

I am running Windows 7 Starter 32 bit.

The first thing I check if my computer starts running slower is the amount of process currently running. Hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del should bring up a screen with a "start task manager" option. At the top there is a Processes tab that lists everything that is currently running. Take a look at the bottom of the window. What is the number of processes running, your CPU Usage %, and Physical Memory % ?

Hopefully it's just that there are simply too many programs trying to start up when you boot Windows. Having some more information would help narrow down the possible reasons for why your net book is running so slowly. I'm sure with a few details someone on here will know exactly why your comp is crawling.

Thanks guys

I used a program called 'Fixbee Disk Optimizer'

I also closed down any unnecessary start up programs in MSCONFIG. I only have 1GB of RAM on this little netbook. It's still not as fast as it was originally but it's MUCH more user friendly!
