Hello,

While searching your forums for information about malware and anti-malware products, I came across this page:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/287710/how-malware-spreads-how-did-i-get-infected/

There are a couple of links on that page that take you to a completely unrelated website. Halfway down the page is a link labeled "Mainstream Websites More Likely to Harbor Malware." I clicked this, and a page from a site called "vdare.com" was loaded. The full address is www.vdare.com/posts/hugh-mcinnish . It's some right-wing political blog site. I hope it's not also a malware site!

I found one other link on that page that points to the same page: "Clicking Online Ads More Likely To Deliver Malware Than Surfing Porn Sites."

There may be others - I didn't investigate the entire page. I'm a bit wary now, because it's possible I got some malware just from clicking that link.

Thanks,

Bastette

Hello,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're not sure why those links are pointing there; they shouldn't be. We're looking into the matter. I've disabled fixed the links mentioned here.

Thanks again.

Also, I have checked out the site you were sent to and there is no indication that it hosted malware. So you should be fine on that front.

Hello Bastette

I'm not sure what happened to those links. I never heard of vdare.com and there certainly was no intention to redirect anyone there.

My best quess is something in our Board Editor which was recently updated affected the formatting when I made my last edit to include a new article. As you can see that topic is very long with numerous links and quotes. The new Board Editor doesn't always play nice with us and there have been unexplained quirks from time to time.

Thanks for letting us know...it shows folks are still interested in learning how malware spreads.

And thanks to Blade for fixing the links.
