Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum - joined 7 April, 2006. I am also a recent join with CastleCops: "Trainees in Waiting"

My background (I am 53) includes mainframe technologies, mid-range (e.g. IBM AS/400 - now iSeries) and many PC-based technologies since the first DOS-based PC.

I am in independant consultant, with experience in corporate and small business (e.g. manufacturing, high-tech, software development, marketing and support).

I am primarily self-trained - I read voraciously, with a preference for sci-fi (if I have any leisure time).

Currently, I am supporting a small business client base, providing business (e.g. project/risk management consulting), technical (e.g. security/technical PC-based support, Windows Office integration, etc.) and am developing business opportunities in eCommunities and SOA.

I have worked with every version of DOS (and DOS-compatibles) and Windows since 1982.

Over the last 16 months I have disinfected over 4 dozen systems - getting into the support game more by chance (and desperate requests) than by plan.

I am interested in helping people and businesses get better at managing their IT/network system AND starting to address major security and technical issues.

Forum activities/involvement will be driven primarily by need. I am eager to help or support in cases where I can "make a difference".

Currently, I am learning "the ropes" and the rules of engagement at CastleCops - and I expect a similar experience here.

I am also willing to answer specific questions about myself, business or technical activities at any time.
