Dear Staff Member,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1440, Pentium ® Dual Core CPU T4200 @ 2GHz, 3GB and 64-bit Operating System.

My computer was working fine until this afternoon.  Then I went to turn it on and it turned on and it got to a point where it was uploading everything and then it suddenly does not respond to any commands.  My cursor still moves, but it does not highlight any file when I go over it, it does not respond to right or left click or the Start button or anything.

So then, I had to force it to turn off and it asked me if I wanted it to work on safe mode and that is what I chose after another try to run in normally.  So, right now I am running it on safe mode with net-working.

I did download a movie from a dubious site last night, i know I should not have.  But can you please, please help me since I have a huge volume of homework to turn in by next Monday and I need to work as much on my computer as possible.  Please, please help me as soon as you are able to, please!

How do we work this out, if this is one of those times where you and I have to be logged in to show me how to fix it?  I mean by getting into the system and so on?

Please, please help!

Dear Broni,

Thanks so, so much for your time.

I forgot to mention that I have Windows Vista Home Premium Service pack 2, in case this is needed.

Also, please don't forget that I am running in safe mode with net working, in case this is also relevant.  One other question in regards to this: after you help me fix my computer, will I be able to run it in normal mode?  Will it go to normal mode on its own, because if not, could you also help me with this, since I would not know how to do this.  Sorry, i am not very good with computers.

And also, since you asked me to restart my computer after running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, can you then please wait to reply to this message until I restart my computer and run Malwarebytes Rootkit?

Here are the results:

Hi Broni,

I am posting the two logs from Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit down below, but I wanted to make a couple comments.

I did re-start my computer after running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, just so you know.

I do want to remind you, if you don't mind me to, but I am still finding the same problem: that is, I still have to run my computer in safe mode with networking.  Thus, I would like to ask, after you analyse these tests, will I be able to run my computer normally?  The problem is still the same: my computer starts normally, but it becomes stall at some point and it does not respond to anything.  At the first click, it goes as if it would be thinking and nothing happens.

Thank you so much for your valuable assistance and I look forward to following your further instructions.

I don't see anything malicious there.

Did you try system restore to some date before the problem started?

Dear Broni,

No, I have tried or done a system restore at any given time.

But my problem is that I cannot seem to operate my computer other than in safe mode with networking.  When I turn it on, it goes onward until it stalls and does not recognize any command, or nothing happens when I right or left click on anything.  So, then I have to force it to shut it off and when it restarts it gives me the option to start on safe mode, and then is when I opt for safe mode with networking.

I have not mentioned something else that might also be relevant here. When this problem started, I thought my computer had frozen and I did something that I probably should not have done: I tried clicking a combination of keys that I once saw a friend do and it seemed to work and I thought I would try to decipher it.  So, I clicked Ctrl + Windows Microsoft icon key (the one in between Fn and Alt, simultaneously, while also clicking on Esc first, and then delete second.  I also tried Ctrl + Fn + Esc first and then Ctrl + Fn + Delete second.  Then I tried Shift + Ctrl + Esc, then Shift + Ctrl + Delete.  Then Shift + Windows icon + Esc, then Shift + Windows + Delete.  Then Windows + Alt + Esc, then Shift + Windows + Delete.  I know this is probably a really dumb thing to do, but this might have dis-configured or affected my computer some how?

This problem occurred for the first time yesterday in the evening.  I had used my computer and it worked fine in the morning, but when I tried to use it later on, it just would not work.  The only thing doubtful that I have done is that I played this movie, from this link: http://www.solarmovie.so/link/play/1131911/

My question is, do you think I will be able to operate it in regular mode again?  If so, how?  Must I take my computer to a computer tech?

Thank you so much for your patience and time.

Best regards,

Mario

Dear Broni,

Sorry I do not know how to do this, can you please tell me how, and also, especially, can I do this on safe mode with networking?

Sorry for such basic questions, but I do thank you kindly for your great assistance.

Mario

Dear Broni,

OMG man, either you are a genius or a superstar or an angel or all of them!  My computer is running normally again, oh gosh, thank so, so, so much!  But what's most amazing and greatest is that I am gonna be able to finish a ton of work I am supposed to turn in on Monday.  So, thanks to you, for being patient and also a frigging genius!

Is there any follow ups you want me to do?

And ey, thank you again, and again.

M

Ps/  This is a second part to this notice.  I turned my computer on this morning and it required to to a special launch to fix anything that might be damaged.  It said it was recommended, so I allowed it.  Then, while it was launching, right in the middle of it, it asked me IF I wanted to do a system restore as a precaution and I said no, because I had just done that last night.  So, it took quite a bit of time (maybe 15 mins) to restart, but it finally did.  It seems to be working ok, perhaps a bit slow, but ok.

Again, thank you so much Broni for all of your assistance.

Dear Broni,

My computer had been running great for the last couple days.  Unfortunately, the same thing happened again.  I just turned my computer on today and it went on until it uploaded everything and then the computer does not respond to any commands upon my clicking on anything.

I am writing this to you on safe mode with networking.  Since we just did everything we did last week, shall I just do another system restore point?  Or do you have any other recommendations?

Can you please help me out again?  Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Mario
