A friend uses a purchased program to manage his clients names, addressed, phone numbers, etc, and he emailed this to me but my computer cannot download or open this so that I can print it or read it. How can I get this to open without having to purchase the same program?

Don't know what you mean by 'this'. If you mean you sent you a copy of the program and you are asking us how to use it without paying for it, you will not find help here. That is not what we do around here.

If I misunderstand, perhaps you can elaborate.

I have alreaqdy tried to use a free trial 30 day introduction to ACT but I can not get this to open. The list emailed to me was only clients names and addresses and phone numbers, not a program I was trying use without paying for. I'm simply having a hard time opening an attachment to emailed information.

If the list is comma delimited, you may be open it with a spreadsheet application; however, much software will use proprietory formatting that requires a copy of the application to open. One would think, though, that if you have a trial version, with all functionality included, it would be able to open the list.

When I last tried to open this attachment, a notice showed asking if I wanted windows to search for a way to open the attachment. After not finding any way to open this attachment, a notice showed that the attachment had Appfix package. I placed a call to Sage the parent of Act, got put on hold and gave up. I'll try again later. Thanks. Bob H

If you have the application on your hard drive, then if Windows does not know how to open it it will ask how to open it: you can direct Windows to the application in the dialogue box that pops up.
