I was wondering if someone could help me, I have Windows Defender and Trend Micro Titanium 2013 installed on my Windows 7 laptop and the past few days, they keep switching off and I can't open the Trend Micro Titanium 2013 console at all, even after re-installing it and rebooting my laptop. Does anyone have any ideas as to they both these programs aren't working properly? Do I maybe have a virus which is causing this behaviour?

Edit: Moved topic from AntiVirus, Firewall and Privacy Products and Protection Methods to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Windows Defender is an anti-spyware tool intended to supplement your anti-virus program. The version of Defender included with all versions of Windows 7 and Vista is part of the operating system so it cannot be uninstalled but it can be disabled if it is causing a conflict with Trend Micro Titanium 2013. It is not uncommon for some anti-virus programs to even disable Defender to avoid conflicts.

Thanks for your reply, I disabled Windows Defender but Trend Micro still won't open. The icon is in the task tray and it says I am "Protected" yet there isn't a process appearing in the task manager and I can't open the Trend Micro console.

I was going to recommend reinstalling Trend Micro but since you already tried that and it didn't resolve the problem, the next thing I would suggest is to contact
Trend Micro Technical Support.
