Hello.

It seems that my HP laptop is experienceing a number of issues. With more and more frequency the computer freezes: i.e., it locks up so that I cannot use it. Normally it corrects itself after a minute or so. Sometimes I can move the cursor; somethimes I can't. Sometimes I can tab between programs; sometimes I can't. Often the spinning blue circle appears and often the screen grays out. I assume, without knowing, that some other program is using the computer's resources.Any idea on what this could be or how I could fix the issue?

Also, I notice that my computer is booting up more slowly than it used to. Any idea on how to speed up the start-up process?

Thanks.

For the "Error: (04/09/2013 07:18:43 PM) (Source: VDS Dynamic Provider) (User: )
Description: The provider failed while storing notifications from the driver. The Virtual Disk Service should be restarted.
" try the following.

Click on the Start orb startorb_zps06e1f985.png, then type cmd in the Search programs and files boxCmd.exe will appear in Programs above, right click on this, click on Run as administrator.

A image similar to the one below will appear.

Screenshot2.jpg

1)  Type in Virtual Disk and then press Enter

2)  Type in Net Start Virtual Disk and the press Enter.

3)  Restart your computer.

Please run sfc /scannow.

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted and incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Click on the Start orb startorb_zps06e1f985.png, the type in cmd in the Search programs and files.

cmd
will appear in Programs above, right click on it, then click on Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, enter the password, or click Allow.

A page similar to the one below will open.

Screenshot2.jpg

Type in sfc /scannow and then press Enter to start the scan.

If the scan stops after successfully completing a part of the scan for more than thirty minutes type in exit and press Enter to stop the scan.

If this doesn't resolve the issue performing a Clean Boot can help point us toward the problem.

What are you using for your antivirus?

Have you run any scans with programs like Malwarebytes or SUPERAntiSpyware?

I see that you have Ccleaner installed, I hope you are not using the registry cleaner feature.  Bleeping Computer does not endorse the use of registry cleaners.  These are over rated and can cause errors in the registry which could render your computer inoperable.

Arachibutyrophobia -

Thank you very much for your help. Alas, I am not able to run as administrator. I can get to the cmd.exe screen, but when I right click there is no option to run as administrator. When I try to go ahead and look for virtual disk I am told that it is not recognized as an internal or external command or program. (I tried both virtual disk and virtualdisk).

I'm sorry but what am I doing wrong?
