Attn Admin: Can this be stickied in Tips and Tricks? It's very useful.

You may have noticed (as I did) that Win7 does not remove the notification icons of uninstalled programs from the system tray. Here is a quick solution, thanks to narenxp!

Open Notepad and Copy/Paste the following code. Choose "Save As," "All Files" and save as .bat file. This bat file will clean out your old icons from the system tray. You will have to reset your show/hide settings when you're done, as it will reset them to default.

@echo off
reg export "HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify" %userprofile%\desktop\traynotify.reg /y
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify" /v IconStreams /f
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify" /v PastIconsStream /f
taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
start explorer.exe
