Downloaded a virus called Avasoft when I clicked a link to print a Fed Ex delivery receipt.

It has removed all restore points and blocked all programs from opening (excel, office, windows essentials doesn't see to be loaded any more.  Windows defender wont open.  When downloading Windows essentials or Malware bytes it blocks them from opening.  The problem is with my Windows 7 computer (not this one.)  Any ideas?

Please follow the instructions in THIS GUIDE starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it HERE. Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

I removed the battery from the computer and let it go dead.  Then I turned off the network.  Then I brought the computer up in safe mode.  I looked for files that were about the right age ( loaded 8 hours ago)  and moved them all.  I was able to open Malwarebytes and then I restarted the wireless network and was able to get to the Malwarebytes website.  I downloaded it again and ran a scan.  It did find the avasoftware pieces and I did remove it.  Once Malwarebytes was run I then found AVAsoft in my list of Programs!!  So it was made visible and I deleted it.

Once it was removed then Windows Essentials was again visible as was the firewall program. These were made unavailable (Hidden maybe?) by the program.  I also was able to see the restore points again.  I ran Windows Essentials next and it also found pieces of the malware (the commands to disable the firewall and windows essentials) and I removed them.

I'm sure this isn't exactly all the steps I took but I tried many, many things.  Right now all is working well.   I have book marked your page incase this ever happens again.

The malware was installed from a phony FedEx email and there was a button to PRINT RECIEPT.  This is what did it.
