hopefully someone has some suggestions for this.

xp boots up normally and, seems, to run normally untill the ethernet cable is plugged in... at which point, everything locks up frozen.

i've tried updating drivers, removing drivers, scanning for any possible malware, swapping in an alternative graphics card.  defaulting bios.

i've also tried loading up linux via a usb, which also freezes as soon as the cable is connected.

Hi  Ken :)

Is your issue related to your other thread? Was it resolved already? Since you've mentioned of ethernet, its possible that there is something wrong with your Ethernet adapter as it needs to be replaced/updated/reseatted properly and see if one of this would resolve the freezing issue.
