is it possible to power up a webcam w/o a computer? you know, something like plugging the webcam into a USB AC adapter just to make the webcam's indicator light up? i tried doing just that, but it didn't work. maybe there's a hack or mod i can do to the webcam to achieve this.  i'm thinking about putting two of these in a basement window to give the impression that it's a working camera. this would be a temporary thing, of course, as i'm doing research on which alarm system to install. i might add that the two webcams are spare and they were not being used.

I think USB webcams basically works only for computers since without the drivers needed to function properly and use 3rd party softwares or as mere standalone cameras to work as a security system.

yes. i understand.

i'm wondering if someone has created a hack of sorts. maybe a software hack or a hardware mod where we can redirect the feed directly to the L.E.D. on the camera.
