action center grayed out

action center icon no longer appears on task bar and settings to turn it on are grayed out not sure how to fix it...

Was the computer infected before the problem occured? Try running this http://kb.eset.com/library/ESET/KB%20Team%20Only/Malware/ServicesRepair.exe

Create a restore point before trying this.

 

Press Windows+R key and type

 

notepad and click ok.Copy this script in the notepad

 

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellServiceObjects\{F56F6FDD-AA9D-4618-A949-C1B91AF43B1A}]
"AutoStart"=""
 

Save the file as actioncenter.reg and save it to desktopLaunch the file and click YES

 

Restart the PC and see if it helps.

The REG file worked.... Thanks guys... not onto the next problem trying to uninstall Visual Studio 2010 SP1
