Hello,
Recently whenever I shut down my XP Pro, it flashes small windows of trying to end programs like Trd ww, ccAp and Explorer.exe.
They don't wait for my input though. They are just shown and closed by themselves. But they are quite annoying and aren't there before.

I read somewhere that Trd ww is related to Total Recorder.
ccAp belongs to Norton (what it does actually ?)

Any way to just shut down XP without them showing ?
Or are they normal ?

Thank you very much.

There is some program hanging when you attempt to shutdown windows which is what is causing the other programs to hang.

Before you shut down, try end tasking certain programs first and then see if the shutdown programs happen. With trial and error you will eventually find the culprit

Found the programs in Windows Task Manager/Processes as you said.
They are TotRecSched.exe and CCAPP.exe.
I highlighted and ended them. Sure enough, the little windows didn't appear anymore.
But is this the way I have to repeat each time I shut down my computer ?
Isn't CCAPP is Norton-related and is required by Windows ?

What about explorer.exe ? Ending it blanked out my entire desktop.
It is a Windows core program, right ?

Yup CCAPP.exe is norton antivirus. May want to check for an update to the software. Explorer is a legit windows program and end tasking it will always blank the screen and then bring back your desktop

Thank you for the reply.

I did Norton Live Update. It said I already have the latest.
Still the CCAPP window is up everytime I shut down.

Guess I just live with that. Afterall, the Windows works fine. Just a bit annoying, though.

Thanks again.

Maybe try a different av software? AVG makes an excellent free product that many people say is much better than norton
