Ahoi,

Peoblem started a day ago, My Interent explorer when I open it opens for a second then closes without any error. I don't use Interent Explorer but I need Interent options for my proxy settings, so I went to Control panel and found that Interent options do not open as well, and one minor thing every folder I opened, opened in a new window. I fixed that, been trying to fix this but was unable too. Thought get help from you guys.

Thanx in advance.

This may or may not work.

From your Start Menu enter Internet Options in the search bar.

When the results are displayed click Internet Options. If it opens reset IE.

Advanced tab.Reset Internet Explorer settings is at the bottom of Advanced.

Click Reset.

You will asked to confirm that you want to reset. At this point, you can either delete personal
settings or keep them. This has nothing to do with website favorites in IE.

Click the reset button.

After reset, your home page will be set to msn.com

You can easily change it to the page you prefer.

So, I kinda fixed my problem. I ran sfc \scannow, and looked at the log, to find out which files were curropted. It showed that alomost all of the internet explorer files were curropted, and some files of like inetcpl.cpl were also. So I tried Del files of internet explorer and found that they were being used. So I put the windows 7 Cd, and went into CMD, from there I Deleted all the files, of internet explorer and replaced them with files that I copied from another computer, I did the same with the system 32 files.

So now IE is working fine, but I still can't open internet options. Any ideas.

What version of IE are you using? If its IE 9 what happened when you rollback to IE 8?

Did internet options work in IE 8?

Uninstall IE 10 which should rollback to IE 9.Does the internet option work now?

Click on startmenu and type

cmd

Right click on it and select run as administrator and run this command

sfc /scannow

After scan completes, restart the PC.Launch command prompt once in using run as administrator and run this command

findstr /C:"[SR] Cannot repair member file" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\desktop\sfcdetails.txt

Post the contents of sfcdetails.txt located on your desktop in your reply
